On Wednesday, it became known that a group of congressmen filed a motion for interpellation against the Minister of the Interior, Alfonso Chávarry, for the questioning of the management he has been carrying out in this portfolio. One of them is because of the measures taken in the face of the social crisis that the country faced and for supporting the curfew of April 5.
Given this, the head of the Mininter will have to answer 9 questions before the plenary of the Congress in the next session following the events that were recorded such as the marches, protests, carriers, among others, which generated chaos and a wave of violence.
“As a result, damage to publicly owned real estate, looting and acts of vandalism that the National Police failed to prevent or propose in a timely and adequate Contingency Plan,” the statement read.
In this sense, for the congressmen who signed the motion, “it has been demonstrated” that the National Police and the Interior “have not had a suitable strategy” in the face of events that occurred in which there were lives to regret, injuries and damage to the private property in Lima, Callao, Junín, La Libertad and other regions.
POPULAR ACTION FILES MOTION AGAINST MINISTER CHAVARRY FOR COLLAPSE IN MIGRATION
Last Tuesday, it was announced that the Popular Action Bank submitted a motion to quote the head of the Ministry of the Interior (Mininter), Alfonso Chávarry, before the plenary session of the Congress to give an explanation on the issue of migration. As you know, the system stopped working and that caused many citizens to miss their flights because they were unable to process their passports.
“To invite the Minister of the Interior, Alfonso Chávarry, to attend the Congress of the Republic and to account for the national representation, regarding the solutions being implemented in the migration sector, to overcome the problem of issuing and handing over passports of passengers, and to explain to us why this problem has originated”, the document published on social networks reads.
In addition, in this document, the political party mentions that “since Sunday, April 10, different citizens with destinations to travel abroad reported the collapse of the migration system at the office located at Jorge Chávez International Airport, so several cases have been reported of citizens who have not been able to process their passport”.
For her part, the president of the congress, María del Carmen Alva, also spoke out on her Twitter account, regretting the situation that hundreds of Peruvians had to go through to process their documentation in Migration.
“Many families at the airport have missed their flights due to the inefficiency of migration that depends on the Ministry of the Interior. Until now, the injured families do not travel to their destinations, mothers with their children without knowing what to do. How long will chaos continue in the government?” , he tweeted.
CHÁVARRY RESPONDS TO PROBLEMS IN MIGRATION
Upon learning last Monday about the collapse of the immigration system, which prevented many people from processing their passports, the Minister of the Interior, assured that he has taken the necessary measures to know exactly what happened.
“It will be managed, it will be processed to solve your problem today, otherwise I will hold the head of Migration and the staff here at the airport responsible for this encampment,” he said.
He also explained that there was a failure in the printing system. “I just explained to people that the Lord must solve their problems today. The system has failed, that's exactly what I came to see.”
