La Villa Deportiva Regional del Callao será una de las principales sedes de los Juegos Panamericanos y Parapanamericanos Lima 2019, que se realizarán del 26 de julio al 11 de agosto y del 23 de agosto al 1 de setiembre, respectivamente. Esta mañana, el presidente del COPAL, Carlos Neuhaus, visitó estas instalaciones junto al gobernador regional del Callao, Dante Mandriotti.
Al término de su recorrido por los coliseos de la Villa Deportiva, donde se realizarán los deportes de Taekwondo, Boxeo y Voleibol, Neuhaus manifestó que "gracias a los Panamericanos hemos ido modernizando la infraestructura deportiva en nuestro país, especialmente en Lima y el Callao, pero esto va a irradiar a todos los lados. Esto hará que los chicos sientan que hay una gran variedad de deportes en los cuales pueden encajar".
Asimismo, aseguró que las instalaciones estarán listas con anticipación para recibir los Juegos Panamericanos de la mejor manera. "Esta obra tiene que estar terminada en marzo, a poco más de tres meses y medio de los Juegos, lo cual nos da un margen suficiente para mejorarlas en caso sea necesario", dijo.
Por su lado, Dante Mandriotti, se mostró entusiasmado por la rapidez con la que se viene trabajando en las obras y dijo que estos avances nos dan la seguridad de que los Panamericanos se juegan en el Callao. "El deporte será uno de nuestros pilares y vamos a contar con uno de los mejores coliseos. Haremos eventos constantes de vóley, básquetbol, entre otros, para propiciar la visita de muchas delegaciones y la realización de muchas competencias".
"El Callao tiene que ser un gran anfitrión, un buen barrista de las delegaciones peruanas que compitan aquí", finalizó.
