A new case of intolerance occurred against a bus driver of the Integrated Public Transport System (SITP), who was attacked with a rod by an energumen complaining to him.
On the Youtube Info account SITP Bogotá, which corresponds to an information project about this service in the city, they compiled videos showing the aggression of both those who were posted on social networks, and from security cameras in the Bosa La Paz sector, in southern Bogotá, where the incident occurred.
In the television news program Citynoticias, on the Bogotá channel City T.V., they indicated that the aggressor was working as an informal transporter and that the altercation would have occurred because the SITP driver was trying to sneak in.
In that news, they consulted with Transmilenio, where they rejected what happened and pointed out that the case is being analyzed by the authorities.
“It is intolerable that the workers of the system, who work every day to provide essential services to citizens such as mobility, are victims of violent acts and their integrity is at risk. Therefore, it will meet the requirements and decisions of the competent authorities responsible for preventing, controlling and punishing this type of event,” the entity told Citynoticias.
They also indicated that the police went to the scene and captured the aggressor, as well as his companion who broke the windows of the car.
In the local news, they also spoke with operators of the SITP buses, who say that they are being attacked daily by other drivers and even passengers themselves.
“You see a lot about the pirates, of a driver who doesn't even have the license to drive. There are users who don't understand how the system works who don't understand that we have to borrow because they can fine us. In fact, the Transmilenio operations manual states that there are some measures to bring the vehicle closer to the platform”, Jonathan Polanía, one of the SITP workers.
He assured that, in addition, they suffer from the crime that perpetrates thefts in the system's automobiles and that many of them have resulted in serious injuries.
“We have robberies and stabbing. Their hands have been injured and even had to be immobilized because they were attacked with knives,” added Polania.
