The tragic story of the disappearance of the young Neolean Debanhi Escobar, whose body was found in a cistern at the Nueva Castilla Motel, left Mexican society at large stunned and indignant.
Mainly because of the positions of Debanhi's father, Mario Escobar, who has pointed out that the Nuevo León State Prosecutor's Office has done its job poorly. He also disagreed with the conclusion that the 18-year-old girl fell into a cistern by accident and declared that it was a murder and that her body was “sown” on the spot.
In the face of the news, there have been numerous messages of support for the family, of indignation towards impunity for the crimes and disappearances of women, as well as those addressed to the government of Samuel García. However, Mexican politicians have also expressed their rejection of such acts and have taken the opportunity to demand justice from the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO).
For example, Deputy Kenia López Rabadán and militant Javier Lozano, both members of the National Action Party (PAN), lashed out against the government of López Obrador: “So what, president: “Andrés Manuel López Obrador has the constitutional and ethical responsibility to leave the circus and deal with this” and “ are you still sleeping soundly and with a clear conscience?”
Faced with these kinds of responses and demands that were added by members of the opposition, Argentine journalist Olga Wornat spoke out against the messages, specifically from the panistas, and described them as an act of hypocrisy.
He noted that the demands of the PAN repulsed him because they demanded justice for Debanhi and not because of the women who disappeared and murdered in the six-year term of Felipe Calderón Hinojosa, who claimed that he came to power for fraud.
A modification of an illustration of Debanhi's last photo on the road has also been disseminated. In this modification, an AMLO spectacle with a hung body was added.
This image was shared by Javier Lozano, who received numerous criticisms as a way to politicize and use Debanhi's death to his advantage to blame the AMLO government.
It should be noted that Olga Wornat was the one who wrote Felipe, the Dark One, in which he talks about the life of the former president and the various events of his six-year term, as well as his alleged links with drug trafficking, specifically with the Sinaloa Cartel.
In addition to the fact that Javier Lozano was singled out by Chinese businessman Zhenli Ye Gon as the person who ordered him to hide cash inside his house that he would be used in Calderón's campaign. If he didn't, he threatened him by saying “Copelas or neck.”
Likewise, journalist and activist Lydia Cacho sent a message in which she asked that the truth should not be hidden.
“#Debanhi May the powerful fail to hide the truth, that indignation takes to the streets of Mexico, we think of you and all the women who have feared for their lives in the streets of #NuevoLeón #MéxicoFeminicida May your soul rest, we will not stop,” Cacho wrote last April 23.
