Actor Ricardo Vesga asks for help not to drop his theater

In an interview with the entertainment and gossip program of the Caracol La Red Channel, the renowned Colombian actor Ricardo Vesga called for help to prevent his theater, Cabaret Rosa, from falling down, the one that he so hard managed to open on September 19, 2020. The theater is located in the Chapinero sector of the country's capital and, due to the heavy rains that have hit the national territory, it was affected by damage to its roof which, now, as the actor himself says, there are more leaks than ceiling.

“Having dreams and living from them is more complex but it's not impossible,” began the performing arts expert for the aforementioned media outlet. In the house there are several structural failures, the roof has gaps that cause the material of the space to have worn out, even fragments of the upper part of the house are completely bent or rolled up. “There we go,” he commented while showing the journalist the infrastructure that has existed for more than 40 years.

Vesga surely that 17 million seems not to be so much money, and yet, for those who don't have them, 'it's a fortune'. That, he said, is what it costs to fix the roof that, over the days, falls apart. “They have collaborated with me, but I hope they will continue to collaborate with me. Sometimes I think that I make television or film to maintain this theater room. So, every day I wake up with that spirit and joy to say, well, what are we going to do today?” , he recounted.

Not only is it the roof, but also, because of the spaces that rainwater enters, the fluid is eroding the floor, even, according to Vesga, those accumulations of water end up being a 'time bomb'. The space, as he described, has two rooms, one of them with a capacity for 120 people, and a smaller room that is used by the actor to advance the acting classes he offers.

Vesga is receiving support from whatever way those interested want to do it, however, remember that this place is not just a theater, but, in fact, it works as a restaurant from Monday to Friday. Even, he says, the space is attended by himself, who serves as a waiter when this service is open to the public. Ricardo doesn't mind taking on this task, because he knows that within such initiatives is the solution to rescue his cultural space. “I do it with all the love in the world. People are surprised to see me, they will say, 'Oh, a television actor is serving, 'but the role of an actor is that, to serve,” he said.

In his talk with La Red, he said that every lunch bought is another step towards saving the validity of Cabaret Rosa.

Recently, Ricardo was part of the cast of Canal RCN's hit novel, 'La nieja elecida'. He played Florentino Espartero, the host of Sara, the grandmother of the family. His character became a favorite among television viewers due to the number of secrets he knew about the mysterious family starring in the production. Ricardo, in a talk with the morning program 'Good Day, Colombia', on the RCN Channel, said that Florentino was the perfect representation of what loyalty, friendship and solidarity means.

In those days, Ricardo was also working on the theatrical production 'Discretes Bestialidades', a play he did with his colleague, fellow actor Alejandro Aguilar. Ricardo told La Red that he hopes to achieve the economic goal that will allow him to fix his theater.
