A total of eight men were killed this Friday in two different events in the state of Michoacán where there is a bloody struggle between drug cartels.
The State Police reported that four of the victims were located in the trunk of a vehicle which was found completely burned on the state highway linking the municipalities of Cojumatlán and Sahuayo, near the border with the state of Jalisco.
The bodies, all male, showed traces of torture, possible gunshot impacts and severe burns, so they remain unknown until now.
The second multiple crime occurred in the municipality of Zamora, where alleged hit men abandoned the bodies of four men, on the Northern Libramiento Norte and a dirt road.
All the victims were tortured and shot dead, although three of them were beheaded. The four bodies have not been identified either.
It is worth mentioning that the National Public Security System (SNSP) has described Zamora as one of the most violent municipalities in Mexico, so the Mexican Army sent 400 soldiers last Wednesday to try to reduce the wave of violence.
The Attorney General's Office (FGE) maintains as the main hypothesis in both cases possible revenge between drug trafficking gangs, so special groups of the Ministerial Police were deployed in the areas to continue investigations.
In the municipalities of Sahuayo, Cojumatlán and Zamora operate the Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG), La Nueva Familia Michoacana and Los Caballeros Templar cartels, which fight with blood and fire for the control of the production and trafficking of drugs such as methamphetamine and marijuana.
These criminal organizations are also responsible for extortion of businessmen and traders, as well as kidnappings and other crimes.
