The leader of the search organization Mothers Seekers of Sonora, Cecilia Patricia Flores Armenta, published through her social networks a possible attempt of attack in their safe haven.
This building was authorized by the Mechanism for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and Journalists in Mexico, which was assigned to it for threats previously received due to its search work in clandestine graves.
During the night of this Thursday, April 21, Flores Armenta shared several messages to ask for help through her social networks. According to what was published, the leader of the search group mentioned that she was alone in her government-given shelter, when alleged young people tried to pick the lock.
So he activated his panic button to get help and report to the Protection Mechanism. However, there was no immediate response from the authorities.
In the message, he tagged President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), on the account of the Ministry of Citizen Security and Protection (SSPC), as well as Alejandro Encinas, head of the Secretariat for Human Rights, Population and Migration.
At 19:08pm he mentioned that no police element arrived at the place and commented that this “is the security that human rights defenders have 'protected', that while many brag with guaruras, luxury cars and privileges on the part of @SEGOB_mx @CMecanismo others are more alone than ever”, wrote Flores.
Luckily, five minutes later, she shared in the same Twitter thread the arrival of agents and three police units, for which she thanked the people who kept in touch with her and the support she received: “I'm upset but fine.”
He finally shared that the authorities promised to investigate the matter and assured that he was under control. “There have been not a few messages and calls asking about my integrity. I'm still in a bit of a scare” and ended by saying “Thank you for caring about me, thank you for loving me. Thank you always.”
It should be noted that on April 14, he shared the possible discovery of the remains of his son, Marco Antonio, who disappeared on May 4, 2019 at the hands of a command of a organized crime group that took him from his home with his younger brother Jesús Adrián. Jesus was returned days later, not Marco Antony.
As a result of the forced disappearance of her son, she has remained in constant search together with the group. However, days later, the Attorney General's Office of the State of Sonora (FGJE) announced that the analyzes made on the bone remains were negative. Although the mother seeker stated that she will exhaust all resources to confirm the result.
He previously stated that the collective has everything against it during its searches, since the local and federal authorities do not help or protect them and have been victims of attacks by criminal groups. This adverse situation has not diminished his conviction to find his loved ones.
