This is how vaccination is going in the country
The most recent report from the Ministry of Health also indicates that as of 11:59 on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, a total of 82,241,178 doses of the vaccine against covid-19 had already been applied in Colombia.
According to the same report, the number of Colombians with the complete vaccination schedule, that is, those who have already received the two doses of the biological, currently amounts to 28,935,107 people, while 6,409,902 people have been immunized with single doses. Likewise, 11,222,289 booster doses have been applied.
Similarly, during the last day, a total of 110,035 vaccines were applied, of which 19,983 were for the second injection, while another 4,524 were single-dose.
The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Fernando Ruiz Gómez, led this Friday, April 22, the Unified Command Post (PMU) 128, with the participation of more than 340 representatives of the sector and delivered three messages on the dynamics of vaccination in the country.
First, he emphasized the transition scheme that the country will have when integrating the National Covid-19 Vaccination Plan into the regular EPI. “This includes important challenges, because we increased the number of vaccination posts,” said the minister.
For this reason, he recommended that as much information as possible should be disseminated, so that citizens know where they can be vaccinated. “This transition scheme is very relevant because it will lead to more agile and standardized processes,” said the official.
A second issue addressed by the minister had to do with the territorial takeover that will take place in the different departments of the country, with the aim of clarifying what this new scheme has to do with and “that we will start next Wednesday with the city of Bogotá and Cundinamarca”.
He also stressed that this process will begin on May 2 at the national level with the territorial takeovers and definitive closure of the massive phase of the covid-19 Vaccination Plan.
Finally, he indicated that the vaccination week of the Americas will be held between April 23 and 30, and highlighted that in virtually all departments of Colombia there is a lag in the vaccination of children and older adults in regular vaccination programs.
According to the official, “this was clearly caused by the pandemic and the difficulty that the population had in being able to go to vaccination points and the prejudice that there was when entering a hospital”. Therefore, he was emphatic in recommending that local authorities take advantage of this vaccination week in the Americas to achieve coverage by the end of this year.
