“Be very careful what you are going to say, we are sucked”: Caleña councillor was threatened in the middle of the Council session

In the city of Santiago de Cali, there is dismay for an unprecedented fact, because in the precinct of the Municipal Council of this city, one of the lobbyists was threatened while the plenary session was taking place on April 21, this event alerted the authorities, as many questioned the safety of the place and the way in which the woman who intimidated the councilwoman, was able to enter without any problems.

It all happened while a question was being debated about the conditions that the councilors have in the city, the councilors sought to discuss the supply of vests and other equipment for the support of these people, from one moment to another, the pronouncement was interrupted by Councilwoman Ana Erazo, who asked for the attention of the precinct and warned about what happened.

At the time when a logistical issue was being explained, Councilwoman Erazo interrupted and said: “Mr. President, it's a shame to interrupt you, I want you to please explain to me who that lady is”. Faced with this, the second vice president of the corporation Henry Peláez asked about what happened while the exhibition was stopped, to which Ana Erazo replied: “That woman came here to threaten me”.

The councilwoman's voice was moderately broken by what happened, while Vice President Peláez said: “Mr. Secretary, I ask you: the Police, that there are few of us who have councilors because they have lifted the security scheme for us, where are you at the moment”. It should be noted that normally in political circles throughout the country, a security group is available for custody, which may vary in number depending on the dignitary.

In addition to the spokesperson and reproach of the situation was joined by the president of the council, Fabio Alonso Arroyave Botero, who mentioned: “Mr. Secretary, I invite you to take careful note of this incident, request the recordings that exist from the District Council, and place the complaint on behalf of the corporation for the threat it has incurred against our fellow councilwoman.” From the premises they immediately communicated with the Police of the Municipal Administrative Center (CAM).

After the controversial event, the session resumed, but the discomfort of Councilwoman Erazo was notorious, since the person who bullied her told her: “Be very careful what you are going to say, we are sucked by your feminist and revolutionary hints”. Later, Erazo endorsed the development of the session as the state of shock passed. Faced with what happened, the politician received the support of several people on their Twitter account, who responded to their complaint and protested the lack of guarantees for women.

Erazo quoted: “A few minutes ago during the plenary of the Cali Council, a woman entered the premises and threatened me in the middle of the debate. I am currently meeting with the police and in a few minutes I will give a statement giving more information about the incident.” .

The corporation called on the authorities to move forward in the investigation of the case, in turn, the Attorney General's Office was asked to preempt the event that has no precedent in the place, since the Police presence has not been latent and is considered necessary to avoid such situations that violate the rights of these political leaders.

Councilwoman Erazo, made a statement on everything that happened, imposing her voice of rejection and pointed out: “We call for the accompaniment of the National Police within the precinct to be an imperative and to be actively developed. It cannot happen that people who exercise leadership and do work by and for the community find themselves in scenarios that endanger their lives and the integrity of all those who are part of the work units.”
