Cats usually approach people who respect them, who do not burden them, who do not bother them, or torment them, according to the own and well-feline criteria of each cat.
People graced with the cat's circumstantial favors are those who know when the cat is asking them to stop petting it, for example.
The sooner such people perceive it, the better considered by the cat they will be and the closer to their preferences they will be.
Cats first warn, then ask, begging later and finally assaulting. Aggression is often followed by definitive rejection or, for a long time.
The most important question then is to respect it and that, as a result, a relationship of mutual trust be established.
Cats prefer a company because they associate it with the presence of something positive.
The cat observes and notes in his memory which members of his environment bring him the most positive things and attitudes. An example could be if playing with that person respects his limits and he always plays with him when the cat wants it and not just when the other one wants it.
Food also plays a fundamental role. Therefore the person who feeds him also enjoys the cat choice, in general.
Cats should never be challenged, much less punished (assertion valid for any animal) since physical aggression or screaming is completely unjustified by the feline code and only causes fear.
Cats are very sensitive and become fearful and elusive in the face of these bad experiences that generate only stress and discomfort.
The relationship with the cat should be based on reward, affection, and softness as concepts that should prevail.
If they do not relate to humans, cats will not be complete cats and although we consider them independent, they need us and like to be in our company, since this creates a feeling of security, feeling protected.
This is why it is so difficult to introduce a new animal to the group since the breakdown of routine and context gives insecurity and most of the time changes are considered as a threat.
