Giancarlo Zárate is the coach of the Peruvian futsal team of people with down syndrome and he couldn't keep quiet after Ricardo's senseless mockery Mendoza and Jorge Luna in their program 'Hablando Huevadas'. The coach defended his players and gave a message of reflection.
“Here is a work of a whole team, we have integrated eight people for this World Cup, we have had support from professionals who sometimes do not appear on cameras. Specialist doctors, nutritionists, physiologists, physiotherapists and cardiologists, who have helped us to prepare this selection in the best way (...) There is a lot of effort here, this is not a joke and that a couple of ignorant people want to mock, it doesn't make sense,” said the strategist for Nativa.
Zárate also took the opportunity to make a request to Peruvians and sent a warning to Ricardo Mendoza and Jorge Luna. “Society must begin to reject such discriminatory comments and mockery. The truth is that I don't see any black humor in him. I hope I have the opportunity to cross paths with them, to see if they have the 'eggs' to say it again because I assure you that they will not.”
Finally, it provided a message of awareness. “I think people who are different aren't the ones who have down syndrome. They are pure people who feel and express in a pure way. Maybe we are the ones who are corrupt, we don't realize that we lie, cheat and don't say things as they are. They don't do it, they are clean people of heart and soul.”
PERU PRIDE
The venue for the World Cup for people with down syndrome was the National Sports Village (VIDENA), in which more than 150 athletes measured their talent from the April 01 to 10 and which won the Brazilian national team. Let's remember that it was the third edition of the tournament.
Peru debuted with a resounding win against Mexico (4-1). He then added his second consecutive victory, beating Argentina 2-1. Unfortunately, the team led by Giancarlo Zárate fell 3-0 against Portugal. With these results, the 'blanquirroja' could not classify the next instance, since it was third in its group.
LUNA AND MENDOZA'S ABSURD JOKE
“I've seen a lot of people wearing shirts from Peru, I had a slight suspicion. I was informed that there was a match of the Peruvian Futsal team of people with down syndrome, it seems that Peru is in the World Cup. I'm not really aware. I'm not a big fan of Down football, I haven't followed it, I don't know who its stars are, who are its different ones,” said Jorge Luna, causing the audience to laugh.
That's when Ricardo Mendoza intervenes: “What has come to me the most is that they didn't understand the joke, it came late” . These words generated greater laughter. However, both drivers stressed that they said it without any bad intention, stating that it was the interpretation of the public.
