A crocodile about three meters long decided to take a Sunday walk through the streets of Sarasota County, Florida, causing surprise among the inhabitants at the large size of the reptile, because in this area it is common to look at these reptiles.
The Sheriff's office shared the video on their social networks and showed concern about the easter bunny, as the sighting occurred on April 17.
“We are not sure that the Easter bunny stayed long in Venice this morning after meeting this bad boy,” said the Sheriff.
The local police alerted environmental authorities but did not respond immediately, so they merely watched the lizard as it traveled quietly through the Venice neighborhood.
The images show how this “bad boy” travels through the gardens of a couple of houses and it is possible that he became aware of the police presence, so he immediately set out on his escape to Community Lake Harrington.
The Sheriff's office asked the villagers to be vigilant because the huge lizard remained in the area and asked that they take precautions in case of watching it walking again.
But for wildlife specialists, this crocodile certainly did not go out in search of easter eggs hidden in the gardens, and they detailed that in spring the breeding season begins for these reptiles, for that reason, it is likely that it is a male who is looking for a mate.
In the municipality of Tampico, in Tamaulipas, it is common for crocodiles to meet face to face with people who reside around the Carpintero Lagoon.
It is considered that these reptiles go out in search of food because human activity has reduced their natural spaces, for this reason personnel specialized in wildlife control often capture and relocate them to areas further away from the Pánuco River.
Despite people's fears, these animals rarely attack humans and are usually victims of species trafficking, so they end up as exotic pets under poor conditions of space and care.
Just a few months ago, a crocodile specimen was caught in a house in Ecatepec, in the State of Mexico. Civil Protection personnel suspected that the animal escaped from a nearby house, where it was probably kept as a pet.
It is also common to see specimens in states such as Campeche, Tabasco, Veracruz and Quintana Roo, areas rich in wetlands.
