The assassination of former governor of Jalisco, Aristotle Sandoval, continues to advance investigations. The new lead on the case was released this Wednesday by the federal government, which detailed that the former president lived with a kingpin from the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) on the day of his death.
According to the details, Sandoval Diaz, who was killed inside the District 5 bar in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, was sitting at a table next to the criminal leader identified as Saul “N”, alias El Chopa.
Last week, the Jalisco State Attorney General's Office announced the capture of the bar's owner, José Manuel Sánchez Cruz, Manu Vaquita, who ordered the crime scene cleaned.
Sánchez Cruz, who is a renowned businessman from Puerto Vallarta, reportedly met with El Chopa, before Sandoval's execution.
The official was killed on December 18, 2020 in the Distrito 5 bar, in Puerto Vallarta.
Sandoval entered the site at 22:00 hours on 17 December, accompanied by two men and one woman. He sat, as can be seen in videos, next to a criminal leader identified as El Chopa, who left the site at 00:30 hours to meet in a famarcia with subjects, who were traveling aboard a vehicle seen during Sandoval's execution.
At 01:21 hours, the politician went to the toilet on the first floor of the bar and when he went down the stairs he was approached by a guy who shot him three times, hitting him in the back and neck.
Sandoval was taken to a hospital by his escort; however, he arrived lifeless. Around 01:39 hours the cleaning of the place began on the instructions of José Manuel Sánchez Cruz, alias the Manu Vaquita.
Despite the progress, the authorities still do not have a solid line of investigation into the motive for the execution of the former governor of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).
