Veracruz: young tourist from Puebla died of drowning on the beach of Antón Lizardo

The young man allegedly entered the sea after having consumed alcoholic beverages. With this, there are at least four cases of drowning during the weekend in the entity

As part of the Easter holiday period, a young man from Puebla died of drowning while vacationing on the beach of Antón Lizardo, in Veracruz, after being washed away by the current of the sea on Saturday afternoon, March 16.

The young man was identified as Irving Hernandez, 22 years old, who had gone with his family to the beach of Veracruz for the weekend. However, moments after the tourist from Puebla entered the sea, his girlfriend realized that he was not going afloat, so he notified the beach brigade members to provide him with help.

Civil Protection personnel and lifeguards from the municipality of Alvarado arrived at the site to rescue the young man, who was taken to the seashore where they tried to revive him; after a few moments, the authorities informed his relatives that Irving had already lost his life.

The body was lifted by members of the Department of Expert Services and Ministerial Police and was transferred to the vicinity of the Forensic Medical Service in Boca del Río. Local media report that the victim had allegedly consumed intoxicating drinks before going swimming.

Another case occurred in the town of La Guacamaya in the municipality of Chiconquiaco, Veracruz, where a 19-year-old boy died of drowning after he tried to throw a dive and become entangled in some branches. After two hours of searching, the victim's body was found.

Likewise, previously a man from the State of Mexico died under the same circumstances on the beaches of Boca del Río. He and his son were washed away by the current of the sea and could not get out. Lifesaving elements managed to get them both out of the sea. The minor could be saved, but his father could not.

Similarly, an adult older than approximately 62 years of age drowned on the beach of Arroyo de Lisa, located in the municipality of San Andrés Tuxtla, after trying to rescue his son-in-law who was swept away by the waves. The elderly person was identified as Hector Alejandro and his body was transferred to Semefo de Catemaco, while the 42-year-old survivor was identified as Sergio Cruz.

However, these have not been the only reports of people dying from drowning on the beaches of the Republic. In the past two days, at least three other deaths have occurred on the beaches of Quintana Roo, Oaxaca and Hidalgo.

On Saturday, April 16, the death of a 23-year-old was reported in a part of the San Felipe Orizatlán river known as La Poza, in Hidalgo, after he went with some friends to vacation. The young man, identified as Ariel, died of drowning as indicated by elements of the Hidalgo State Security Agency (ASEH).

Meanwhile, on Delfines Beach in Cancun, Quintana Roo, a person from Nuevo León died of drowning after she was washed into a deep area of the sea. According to the media by Esto! , the victim could not swim, so he could not stay afloat.

Finally, another tourist from the State of Mexico lost his life in the Yosocuta dam, Oaxaca. According to Quadratín, the 36-year-old victim went swimming in the dam, but moments later one of his companions notified the local authorities, as his friend did not leave the waters. His body was taken by boat to the shore of the dam, where a carriage took him to the municipal amphitheater El Golgota to perform the corresponding necropsy of law.
