
Luis Ignacio Escobar Torres, in charge of narco-shops at Los Zetas in San Luis Potos í, was sentenced to 22 years and six months behind bars for his membership in the criminal group, possession of firearms and drugs.
The Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) obtained the judgment through the Office of the Specialized Prosecutor for Organized Crime, in coordination with the Office of the Specialized Prosecutor for Regional Control.
The drug dealer of the last letter cartel was arrested in May 2012, and at that time he was secured a firearm, as well as 100 bags of cocaine hydrochloride and 136 cartridges. It took almost a decade for him to know the years he must spend locked up.
According to the investigations, Escobar Torres was appointed to distribute narcotics in establishments where it was dispensed locally. His criminal activities covered the municipalities of Villa de Reyes, Tierra Nueva, Santa María, La Pila and Zaragoza.
The criminal group in that area was also known as the Letter and/or the Company. Now, its member will remain interned at the Federal Center for Social Readaptation No. 1 Almoloya, the Altiplano, in the State of Mexico.
According to the FGR, the accused was found responsible for crimes of organized crime (anti-health and kidnapping hypothesis); against health in the form of drug use; hypothesis of possession of cocaine hydrochloride for commercial purposes (sale); carrying of firearms and possession of cartridges for the exclusive use of the Army, Navy or Air Force.
