The wave of violence and femicides have caused many Mexicans to feel afraid when they board a taxi or truck to return home at night. Therefore, they choose to request some mobile application service, although unfortunately they are not 100% safe for women either.
Knowing this, a driver of the Didi service, in the state of Tamaulipas, decided to convey confidence and security to the user with a message.
It was Jazmín Castillo herself, a young woman from Ciudad Victoria, who shared the pleasant experience with the driver through her social networks, which went viral this Friday.
It all started when he left work on April 13 and asked for a Didi to go to his mother's house despite the fear of traveling on this kind of transport. “Despite my fear, I chose to take a DiDi, I always check license plates and the driver; because I have a son who is waiting for me at home,” he said on his Facebook account.
When the car arrived, the young woman verified that the data corresponded to that indicated in the application and a few minutes after getting into the car she was pleasantly surprised, as the driver, identified as Caesar, kindly introduced himself, lowered his face mask to show him his face through the rearview mirror and assured Jasmine who would reach their destination safe and sound, because “there are more good drivers”.
“I know because of the situation that is happening. Look, to make you more confident, I show you my face, it's something that some drivers choose to make them feel confident and safe. Today I tell you that on this journey you will reach your destination safe and sound. I know there are bad drivers, but we are more the good ones,” Caesar told Jazmin.
The young woman said that she “felt beautiful” because every time she takes a DiDi or walks home alone she has her son in her mind and that this time she felt safe traveling.
However, he added that not because of this good experience he will blindly trust. “We must continue to take care of ourselves, the situation is difficult, take a lot of precautions, we want ourselves alive and safe #NiUnaMenos,” he wrote.
The publication generated many reactions, especially recognition of the professionalism and sensitivity of the Didi driver. So far it has been shared 42 thousand times.
“Hopefully there are more drivers like him”, “It is the example that it does not cost them anything to show up and if it is with an INE or a license, the better”, “We must recognize the awareness that women had of what we women lived through”, read among the comments.
It is worth mentioning that César has a 5-star rating on his more than 300 trips, according to the data shown by the app.
However, other users pointed out that in Didi it is still very common for drivers to arrive occupying the identity of others.
More information in development.
