Schedules, costs and activities at the Botanical Garden for Easter

The Bogotá Botanical Garden announced what will be the schedules, costs and activities that will be carried out during the days of Easter, inviting national and foreign tourists to visit the Tropicario Distrital, one of the spaces that houses and reproduces the flora of all the ecosystems of Colombia.

On April 14, 15, 16 and 17, “visitors will be able to enjoy the activities that have been arranged for this season, which include guided tours in English and Spanish, spaces for meditation and of course, an interesting journey through Colombian flora in the Tropicario District,” the Garden announced in a statement.

Bogota Botanical Garden Hours and Costs

For April 14, 15, 16 and 17, the Garden hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets for admission are purchased only at the on-site ticket office, and the fees are:

· Colombians 5 years and older: $5,000

· Children under 5 years old and over 62 years old: free

· Foreigners: $5,000

· Admission to the Tropicario: $5,000

It is worth noting that admission to the Tropicario is in groups of 20 people per tour, “for which reason, the sale of tickets is subject to availability and demand at the ticket office” they explain from the Garden.

The Tropicario District

The Tropicario houses and reproduces the flora of Colombia's different ecosystems in an area of 2,600 square meters.

It was recognized with the “Special Mention” at the Architecture Biennial in Santa Cruz (Bolivia) in March 2022, in which the qualifying jury considered “this place as a window for knowledge and an inspiration for scientific and educational initiatives that promote the appropriation of Colombia's environmental wealth”.

With this recognition, the Tropicario has already completed five international awards and 3 nominations in different categories and competitions. For her part, the director of the Garden, Martha Liliana Perdomo said: “This mention encourages us to continue working towards the construction of a more conscious and committed environmental citizenship.”

Cultural activities to do in Bogotá during Easter

The film Drive My Car, based on a short story by Hariku Murakami of the same name and winner of the Oscar Award for Best Foreign Film, will be screened at the Bogotá Cinematheque from 14 to 17 April.

The Costa Rican film Objetos Rebeldes will also be screened from Thursday to Sunday, and finally, on Friday, April 15, Pedro Almodóvar's latest film, Parallel Mothers, will be presented.

On the other hand, during the last days of the Ibero-American Theater Festival of Bogotá (FITB) there will be plays for all audiences, Little Red Riding Hood, The Treasure of the Dorado and Gaspar, the Lord of the Clouds, by the puppeteer brothers Iván Darío and César Santiago Álvarez , and ¡HA HA HA! , which will have a clown show on Thursday, Friday and Saturday,

There will also be space for works reflecting on the armed conflict in Colombia and forced displacement with Unveils, a song in four winds, the work of the Truth Commission that brings together more than 100 artists and members of various communities in the country; and History of a Sheep, a moving piece by Fabio Rubiano on migration.

In addition, there will be presented, from Argentina, Brief Encounters with Repulsive Men; La canción del norte, from the United States; the Spanish piece El perdón; and the Colombian works Readings al Fuego, the series and Three Short and Absurd Works.
