
Thousands of people take advantage of the Easter holiday period to visit new places or return to their favorite destinations. In that sense, here we will present examples of at least 5 magical towns classified as one of the best to walk among the tourist class.
Coatepec, Veracruz
This peculiar site located in Veracruz, was incorporated into the Magic Towns program in 2006. It is recognized as one of the main places to be coffee producers nationwide.
Even between April and May, the traditional Coffee Fair takes place, where the main producers of this drink come together. In addition, to pamper the palates, it also has the most delicious cuisine in the region.
Diners can enjoy typical dishes such as: bread soup, chicken stew, coatepecan jerky, trout or prawn jerky, wood-baked bread; and for dessert, savor their ice cream or liqueurs based on coffee, mandarin, macadamia, lemon or passion fruit.
Some of its attractions to visit are: Bola de Oro Waterfall, La Granad Waterfall, Cafetales, Coffee Museum “La Mata”, El Palacio Municipal, among others.
Bacalar, Quintana Roo
The Lagoons of Bacalar are located in the south of the state of Quintana Roo and are ideal for many activities, such as: diving, swimming in beautiful and calm waters, snorkeling, among others.
This spectacular site is called “Seven Colors Lagoon”, an impressive area of natural turquoise blue hues that catches the eyes of millions.
It should be remembered that Bacalar is the gateway to the underwater caverns of the Cenote Azul, south of Playa del Carmen, and interesting Mayan archaeological sites covered by jungle. The Mayan word Bakhalal means “near or surrounded by reeds”. It was designated a magical town in 2006 and has the traditional patron saint's festival of San Joaquín, which takes place every year during the month of August.
San Cristobal de las Casas in Chiapas
With magnificent viceregal buildings in the Baroque style, San Cristóbal de las Casas is considered one of the most romantic cities in the country.
It is a more cultural area, where you can get to know the best jewels and structures it owns, as it has some architectural treasures.
This city, which was incorporated into the Magic Towns program in 2003, offers some tourist destinations such as: the Cathedral of San Cristobal de las Casas; the Cultural Center of Los Altos; the Church of La Merced; the Church of San Nicolás, among others.
Tequisquiapan, Queretaro
This little town, named after 2012, is an ideal area to rest, as it offers tranquility all year round.
In “Tequis” you can hire a hot air balloon tour of up to one hour, a dream tour that you can't miss. According to local websites, costs range from 2,500 for adults to 1,900 children between the ages of 4 and 9.
It also has the traditional Cheese and Wine Festival, where you can taste the best cheese and wine products in the region, as well as visit a vineyard to learn how this drink that many people love is made. It is available during weekends in May and June.
Strolling through its picturesque streets or visiting a hot spring spa are the best options to enjoy.
Patzcuaro, Michoacan
Listed as a region of great tradition, this magical town located in the state of Michoacán, can boast more than 500 years of history. It was founded by Don Vasco de Quiroga to be the political and religious center of the region.
Touring this place is a delight for connoisseurs, explorers and photographers. One of the main recommendations is to go every morning to Gertrudis Bocanegra Square, an excellent place to taste typical Michoacán products such as dry charales, stuffed cuckolds or Cotija cheese.
While in the afternoon you will be able to visit fashionable restaurants, cafes, refrigerators and mezcalerias that bring together locals and foreigners under the portals of the Vasco de Quiroga square enlivened by the traditional music of the old men.
Its name means “the gate of heaven” and it was the main religious center of this civilization since it was believed that the gods ascended and descended here. Some of its attractions to visit are: the House of the 11 Patios, Basilica of the Virgen de la Salud, Plaza Vasco de Quiroga, among others.
