A new fact of intolerance occurred in Cartagena last week, when two women argued in a fried bar in the historic center of the city and one of them was burned on her right arm with hot oil.
Although it was said at the time that the fight occurred because the local employee — who suffered first-degree burns — handed a cold pie to the other woman, new details of the case were delivered to deny false accounts and clarify how it all happened.
According to the 37-year-old worker, the conflict began when her attacker came to the business in the company of another woman (her mother) and a minor (her brother), to consume the food that is prepared there.
It was then that the discussion began to arise, as the local client stated that this was not the taste of empanada she wanted, even though she had already consumed a large part of the product. This is why his requests for exchange or reimbursement of money were denied, which caused him great discomfort.
While the brawl was going on, some witnesses tried to separate the women, but they were getting closer and closer to the kitchen. After a push, one of them fell right next to the fryer and tried to hold on to what was at hand, with such bad luck that she put her right arm in the oil.
Fortunately, the fryer's stove had only been on for a couple of minutes and the liquid wasn't as hot as usual. Otherwise, the injuries could have been more serious.
In response to what happened, the Metropolitan Police arrived to attend to the case, arrested the client and transferred the employee to a health center, who was diagnosed with first-degree burns on her hand and arm, as well as some other lacerations from the oil spread.
After receiving medical attention, both women were placed at the disposal of the Attorney General's Office. The judiciary prosecuted them for the crime of “reciprocal personal injury”, so they are awaiting the ruling of a judge, who will determine the fine or the penalties that must be paid for the events that occurred.
