The President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, stated that the law for the payment of 100 per cent of compensation for time of services (CTS) to teachers, allows the teaching career to be revalued and meets a fair demand in the country.
During the presentation and publication of the law autograph, he indicated that this rule is a sign of the Government's firm commitment to education, since it is the basis of the country's progress and development and a right of all Peruvians. The president said that this is a struggle that has cost lives and many struggles will come when we have to come out as citizens in defense of democracy. “Here you have a president and a democratic man who will ensure that this situation continues... Today we are telling the country that we are meeting the goals at all costs and despite the tripping they have put on us,” he said.
The president also ordered that this law autograph be published in the Official Gazette El Peruano, for the benefit of all the national teachers.
“If we want to be a fairer and more equitable country, let us begin to recognize the work of teachers, if we want a more egalitarian country, let us recognize the rights of the teachers' family and the children of teachers, they are and will always be the second family of the Peruvian people,” he emphasized in the activity that took place at the headquarters of Government Palace.
ABOUT THE LAW
Last Monday, the autograph of the law was signed that states that teachers, nationwide, will be able to access 100% of their Compensation for Time of Services (CTS) at the time of their retirement. Thanks to this rule, teachers will have a CTS of 100% of their full monthly remuneration (RIM), per year or fraction greater than six months of effective official services, counted from their appointment to the date of retirement.
On April 1, the plenary session of Congress approved the aforementioned law by trespassing, after it was observed by the Executive. Given this, new deadlines were established for the payment of the benefit, so that the change is established progressively. Thus, teachers who leave in 2022 will receive 50% of the CTS pay this year, 20% in 2023 and 30% in 2024.
For their part, those who retire in 2023 will receive 70% of their CTS that year and 30% the following year; while teachers who retire from 2024 onwards will receive 100% at the time of cessation.
