Loot is an upcoming television series that will be added to the original Apple TV+ catalog. Starring and produced by Maya Rudolph (Saturday Night Live and Bridesmaids), the comedy is about a journey of self-discovery for a wealthy woman who has everything, but is going through the worst moment of her life when the tabloid press exposes her young husband's infidelity. This week, the streaming service shared the first glimpse of the title with official images of what will be seen very soon.
“Billionaire Molly Novak has a dream life, with private jets, a sprawling mansion and a gigayate, everything her heart desires. But when her husband of 20 years cheats on her, she will begin a very public spiral fall, becoming fuel for the tabloid media. As he hits rock bottom, he learns, to his surprise, that he has a charitable foundation led by sensible Sofia Salinas, who begs Molly to stop generating bad press. With her devoted assistant Nicholas by her side, and with the help of Sofia and the team, including the kind accountant Arthur and his optimistic and pop-culture-loving cousin, Howard, Molly embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Giving back to others could be what she needs to recover herself,” says the official synopsis.
The creative team and cast behind the comedy Loot
In addition to Rudolph, the cast of Loot is composed of Michaela Jaé Rodriguez (Pose), Ron Funches (Undateable), Nat Faxon (Married) and Joel Kim Booster (Sunnyside). The story is an original creation by Emmy winners, Alan Yang (Master of None) and Matt Hubbard (30 Rock). Both also serve as screenwriters and producers. This is the second time that Yang has collaborated with the platform from Little America, the acclaimed anthology nominated for the Independent Spirit Award, BAFTA and NAACP Image Award
Maya Rudolph is executive producer alongside Natasha Lyonne and Danielle Renfrew Behrens through Animal Pictures. Dave Becky, of 3 Arts, is also listed in this role. The production is distributed for Apple TV+ under the label of Universal Television (a division of Universal Studio Group).
The first three episodes of Loot will be released on June 24 of this year and the rest of the season will be split with weekly premieres each subsequent Friday. In total, there will be 10 chapters that will tell the journey of billionaire Molly Novak in a proposal that mixes comedy with the theme of work.
