
The national team won bronze, with four wins and one defeat, at the FIBA South American U-18 Women's Basketball Championship, a tournament that took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The Colombian quintet beat Uruguay, Chile and Venezuela in the group stage, which allowed him to qualify as the group leader in the semifinals.
However, the national basketball players fell to the local team in the semifinals and subsequently beat Uruguay in the contest for third place in the championship.
In this way, Colombia was the third best team in the competition, below Brazil, which took the title, and Argentina won the runner-up.

The team led by Luis Cuenca achieved World Cup qualification in the category and featured outstanding performances by the players; Martha Paulina Moscarella Contreras, Juliana Suárez Hurtado and Luisa Fernanda Osorio Hidalgo who are part of the Tierra del Cañón del Chicamocha team.
In their first match, Colombia faced Uruguay, which they defeated 57-61 and then beat Chile with a score of 64-53. Subsequently, he won a key win to secure himself in the top four against Venezuela, which he surpassed 68-46.
However, in the semifinals they succumbed to Argentina, which served as home and defeated coffee makers 60-41. In play for third place, Colombia beat Charrúas again by a score of 60-43.
The Colombians took off in the third quarter thanks to perimeter marksmanship and effective zone defense. Juliana Gómez emerged on that stage with two of her four three-pointers her team scored eight and another three successes from the free throw line. The guard totaled 15 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Meanwhile, on the defensive side they prevented comfortable shots and also generated some of the 29 turnovers of the celestes, who received up to 31 goals in this way.
This will be the third time that a Colombian women's basketball team will compete in a World Cup in this category. It should be remembered that this prestigious competition will be played in June and that it will give place to the world cup that will be held in Spain next year.
For her part, the player who played the most minutes in the Colombian team was the santanderean Juliana Suárez, who has been doing processes in the youth for several years and today sees the fruits of all her efforts.
