The rumor emerged just a few months ago, and now TikTok has officially gone public. ByteDance, the developer of the popular video application, has announced Effect House, a new platform where users can create filters and effects of augmented reality using a variety of free tools.
Effect House is a response to the various filter development kits provided by Meta or Snapchat so that users can create their own skins or effects on their respective platforms. In this case, TikTok's solution is a program that is initially available for macOS.
It offers a ton of features, such as the ability to create filters based on tracking, user interactions, and more. While creating effects requires advanced knowledge, Effect House also has a tutorial section that explains the most basic techniques for creating various effects.
“Effect House offers learning tools and resources, equipping creators with intuitive design and development technologies that would allow them to create immersive and dynamic effects for the global TikTok community,” TikTok says in the official statement entitled 'Taking Community-Inspired Creativity to the Next level with Effect House'.
Creators with the most creativity will be able to make the most of Effect House
TikTok also ensures that creating filters and effects can be a good way for users to gain more recognition. Several skins created with Effect House can be published in the video app.
If the user uses it, the filter name will appear at the end of their clip. Viewers can click to get information about the creator, as well as to view content recorded by other users using this filter.
TikTok, yes, will review all new filters to be published on the platform. It will also reject people who may offend or embarrass some people.
Among them are the effects of skin change, created with the aim of dominating a certain culture. Also, people who promote plastic surgery or who “encourage scrutiny of someone's appearance” as TikTok points out in its statement.
Requirements to install Effect House on a Mac
- macOS version 10.14 or later.
- Intel Core i3 2.5 Gz processor
- AMD FX 4300 chip or an Apple M1 (and newer) with 4GB of RAM.
- Screen resolution of at least 1280 x 768 pixels
- Intel HD Graphics 4000, Nvidia GeForce 710 or AMD Radeon HD 6450 graphics.
How to prevent others from watching the videos you liked on TikTok
Definitely, on TikTok there are many videos that users like, and more and more will be due to the personalized algorithm.
But, there are always people who prioritize their privacy, and they may not want all their followers to be able to know at all times what they've liked, or maybe they just want to be the only ones to be able to return to those videos they've liked so much.
So, this is how you can make the list of 'likes' private:
1. In the app, access the profile by tapping on the bottom right of the 'Me' section.
2. Tap the three lines in the upper right corner.
3. In settings, select Privacy.
4. Scroll down to the Security section and tap on the segment 'Liked Videos'.
5. From there choose 'Just me' and that's it.
In case you want to make this information public again, the user can follow the same steps and at the end choose 'Everyone' so that their followers can know which videos they have recently liked.
