As every year, this week the banks will close their doors to the public for a couple of days, that is, on the so-called Thursday and Holy Friday, because these are dates marked as non-working days in their working calendar, this was announced by the Association of Banks of Mexico (ABM).
In this way, he announced that in accordance with the provisions governing the National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV), which establishes the dates of leave in the financial sector, banking institutions will suspend their activities during April 14 and 15, so citizens are invited to take their precautions.
Although they are not considered official dates, some companies do stop their activities during Thursday and Friday of Easter, since in Mexico this period is considered to be a celebration, for Catholics it recalls and represents the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus.
In this way, in this digital space we will make known what are the alternatives to take into account during these two days and avoid setbacks. It will be important to remember that if the deadline for a payment corresponds to a non-working day, the payment may be made on the following business day, according to the Transparency and Regulation of Financial Services Act.
What are the alternatives?
*Banks that operate inside commercial warehouses and supermarkets, will be open to the public, during the two days and despite being marked as unskilled. Hours of service will be as usual.
The ABM also recalled that citizens will have at their disposal more than 56,000 ATMs, 49,000 bank correspondents, as well as digital banking, electronic banking and telephone banking, which operate 24 hours a day, 265 days a year.
It must be remembered that banking institutions cease to operate during certain dates established as holidays, those that some companies grant to their employees such as the Day of the Dead, as well as official ones, which are the days considered mandatory holidays.
The ABM announced what dates will not be active for the remainder of the year.
What are the non-working days of bank branches?
-Thursday 14 and Friday 15 April: Easter
-Friday, September 16: Independence Day
-Wednesday 2 November: Day of the Dead
-Monday, November 21: the celebration of the Mexican Revolution will be toured
-Monday, December 12 (Bank Employee Day)
-Sunday 25 December (Christmas)
For its part, it should be remembered that the Metro Collective Transport Service will also operate during next Thursday 14 and Friday 15 April with special hours, since it will consider this couple of days as holidays.
According to the Mobility Secretariat of Mexico City (Semovi), the so-called “orange worm” will open next Thursday and Holy Friday from 7:00 a.m.
In addition, some other vehicles belonging to the Integrated Mobility Network (MI) will change their operating hours on these dates.
