Everything is ready for the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections. This afternoon, the National Jury of Elections (JNE) presented the official list of pre-candidates who will participate in the internal elections of the parties, which will be held next May.
As for the elections in Metropolitan Lima, political parties have registered a single list of candidates, so the final names that will enter the electoral contest, which will be held next Sunday, October 2, are already known.
The great absentee is Fuerza Popular. Its leader, Keiko Fujimori, confirmed that she will not participate in the Lima mayoral elections. Instead, they will support a candidacy that succeeds in integrating those who believe that Peru's capital “should not fall into the hands of populism or the left.”
