On the occasion of the commemoration of Holy Week, the Ministry of Health published a series of recommendations for Colombians to maintain biosecurity measures during their travels or departures during Major Week.
The deputy director (e) of Communicable Diseases of the Ministry of Health, Iván Cárdenas, called on the compatriots not to forget to maintain practices for the management and control of covid-19, as he recalled that, despite the fact that the numbers of infections in the country remain low, the disease has not yet disappeared.
Taking into account the current situation of covid in Colombia and the progress made in the National Vaccination Plan, the Deputy Director (e) of Communicable Diseases recommended that Colombians consider the following points during Holy Week:
1. Complete vaccination schedules and apply booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
2. Avoid crowds.
3. In closed places always use the mask covering mouth and nose.
4. In case of holding or attending mass events, preferably carry them out in the open air. In case they are carried out indoors, remember the need to wear a mask and to complete the vaccination schedules.
5. Hand washing and hygiene with soap and water permanently.
6. If you have symptoms compatible with COVID-19, isolate yourself preventively and avoid attending mass events or public places.

Cardenas also recalled that, within the framework of Resolution 350 of 2022, it was also important to maintain physical distancing, avoid kissing or hand greeting, ensure adequate ventilation in the home and avoid frequenting places without ventilation.
In the case of religious activities, the official reiterated to Colombians that during church ceremonies they must maintain all security measures. He also asked the centers of religious congregation to promote Eucharistic and worship acts through virtuality or in the open air.
As for the tourism sector, the official of the Ministry of Health recommended that travelers, before traveling to a Colombian destination, verify that both accommodations and tourist places comply with all biosecurity measures.
“In cities with a tourist tradition, territorial entities must strengthen pedagogy in individuals, families and communities in compliance with biosecurity measures (hand washing, wearing masks, physical distancing and being located in places with ventilation),” Cárdenas added.
