At 4:00 p.m. on April 11, Colombian President Iván Duque rang the bell of the New York Stock Exchange to signal the launch of the Green Taxonomy strategy, a commitment that seeks to mobilize resources for environmental sustainability, focused on adaptation to climate change and carbon neutrality by 2050. The president assured that this classification system identifies economic activities and productive assets that really have substantial contributions to the environmental objectives that the country has set itself.
In addition, Duque met with executives from the investment banking group Goldman Sachs, led by Dina Powell, Global Head of Sustainability and Inclusive Growth. He also had lunch with international investors, to whom he explained the “good time and challenges of the Colombian economy and the advantages of investing in Colombia.”
