Luck seems to be on the side of the chairman of the Council of Ministers Aníbal Torres, at least for the time being. The spokesperson for the Popular Action Bank, Karol Paredes, announced that her parliamentary group has decided to stop the collection of signatures that she had as purpose is to summon Premier Torres to Congress so that he can be questioned, this after the regrettable deaths recorded in the protests caused by the rise of prices on certain products.
The decision taken by Acción Popular comes after Congressman Darwin Esponiza's request to reconsider the decision taken by the working group. However, it does not mean that in the near future the collection will not be resumed in order to hear Aníbal Torres' discharges to the national representation.
“Congressman Espinoza has asked for a reconsideration, we had nine signatures [for interpellation], we are going to have a bench meeting. We need to analyze this letter. And no, the collection has not continued,” the alternate spokesperson of the accio-populist bench, Karol Paredes, told Lima daily El Comercio.
The representative of the lampa party confirmed that there are members of her bench who are in favor of continuing the process. “As this agreement [to promote the interpellation] has come out of the bench, it is in this instance that [Espinoza's request] must be resolved,” the congresswoman added. It is expected that in the next few hours the Acción Popular Bank will announce the final decision on its desire to exercise political control over the authorities, which in recent weeks have been the target of criticism and questioning for their actions in the face of the crisis.
CURIOUS REQUEST
While Darwin Espinoza is not a figure he has highlighted in parliament, his name came to attention after being mentioned by Karelim López to the prosecution in his attempt to become an effective collaborator. “'Los Niños' are a group of parliamentarians named after former Palacio Secretary General Bruno Pacheco and by the president because they 'obey everything Pedro Castillo says, ' was the statement of the questioned businesswoman about the group that would be part of Espinoza.
López added that this group is involved in the entrenched MTC mafia in order to be able to deliver tenders since last year and were linked to Chinese co-companies and a Peruvian company Ingeniería Integración de Proyectos S.A.C, with which they formed consortiums.
For Espinoza, an attempt to challenge Prime Minister Aníbal Torres “would mean increasing the current instability and misrule.” In a statement, the congressman referred to the questioned decisions taken by the Executive. “We are aware of the poor decisions of the President of the Republic, when choosing his ministers of state, so having to renew a new Cabinet in its entirety would imply to me the worsening of the current situation,” he said.
E spinoza, according to the statements Karelim López, would be part of the group of accio-populist parliamentarians who intended to “co-govern” with the Executive, but which former Palacio Secretary Bruno Pacheco refused. “'The children' demanded a conversation with Housing Minister Geiner Alvarado and wanted to put their people in high positions in other programs such as Water for All. But the businesswoman said that Bruno Pacheco had not accepted because they already had other works in the MTC and they began to shape themselves to “co-govern”, were the words of the questioned businesswoman before the authorities responsible for investigating the case.
