The Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra joins the commemoration of the National Day of Memory and Solidarity with the Victims of the Armed Conflict with a concert on April 8 at 3:00 p.m., in which Colombian music will be performed in the central square of the National University.
The concert will be led by masters Joachim Gustafsson, titular music director and Rubián Zuluaga, assistant music director, and will take a tour of the national geography. The notes of corridors, bambucos and cumbias will be played by prominent composers and arrangers such as Terig Tucci, Germán Darío Pérez, Armando Velásquez, Jorge Villamil, Alex Tovar and Victoriano Valencia, among others.
The Philharmonic believes that, “music, as an integrating and transforming element, allows us to send a message of union and reconciliation to Colombians who have suffered from some victimizing event in the context of the Colombian armed conflict.”
Thus, the Philharmonic and the National University send a musical message in support of peace by paying tribute to the victims and memory, in an emblematic place and with a program that invites national identity.
“La Paz arouses enthusiasm in the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra. We are pleased to return to the National University and reiterate the message that a better country is possible,” said David García, director general of the Bogotá Philharmonic.
It is worth remembering that since December 2019, due to the structural strengthening and updating of the networks and equipment of the León de Greiff Auditorium, the Philharmonic Orchestra has not performed at the National University, its natural home for concerts, so this presentation is configured as an opportunity for the reunion of old friends.
The event is free with prior registration through this form.
More activities within the framework of the National Day of Memory and Solidarity with Victims

For its part, the Bogotá Cinematheque announced that on Saturday, April 9, it will present two special functions in partnership with the Truth Commission and Forensic Architecture. The first, which will be screened throughout the month, is entitled 'Traces of Disappearance', an audiovisual project in which “a rigorous, artistic and enlightening approach to acts of violence in the Colombian armed conflict” is made.
At 6:00 in the afternoon of the same day, in the Capital Hall of the Cinematheque will be screened 'Dispossession and Memory of the Earth', an audiovisual work that narrates “the violence involved in land grabbing in Antioquia's Urabá”.
