The National Electoral Council (CNE) revoked sanctions against four councillors from Medellín, Albert Corredor, Paulina Aguinaga, Nataly Velez and Lina Garcia, who were accused of betraying the Democratic Center during the election of the city council president.
The event was recorded on November 10, the Council of Medellín elected as its president conservative councilman Lucas Cañas, and these four councillors decided not to vote for their party partner, Simon Molina, they did so for councilwoman María Paulina Aguinaga.
Five months later, the CNE lifted the sanctions, considering that they are disproportionate. According to a resolution, the entity declares “without effect the provisional measure contained in the third paragraph of the Order for the Opening of Formal Investigation dated November 10, 2021 and the sixth paragraph of the Clarifying SELF dated November 11, 2021, issued by the National Overseer of the Central Democratic Party.”
In this way, the community requires that the Corporation be permanently and immediately informed of decisions taken within the disciplinary process.
So far, the Democratic Center as a collective has not spoken out against the decision of the National Electoral Council.
After the National Electoral Council (CNE) decided that Federico Gutiérrez should appear under his real name, and not under his nickname, Fico, on the presidential card, the candidate assured that he does not care what they call him, because he is certain that Colombians will vote for him.
“They can call me Fico, Federico, whatever they want, maybe people will vote for us,” said the presidential candidate of the center-right coalition Team for Colombia, who took the opportunity to appeal to his potential voters.
“I invite people to continue to join, to continue growing this project for the country, in the defense of Colombia, democracy and freedoms,” Gutiérrez said.
Likewise, the former mayor of Medellín assured that his followers have already identified him on the card they will deposit at the polls next May 29. “The important thing is that we are there. We're gonna be on the card. People will already place us very well and they will vote for us, I am sure of that,” Gutiérrez added.
