Super holiday for Easter, the Senate will reconvene until April 19

On the afternoon of this Wednesday, 6, another ordinary session ended in the Senate of the Republic and, for reasons of Easter holidays, it will not be held again until April 19, which means that this legislative body will have 12 consecutive days of leave.

With the return of the legislators to the Upper House, the agenda will be addressed, where one of the main issues to be addressed will be, if approved by the Chamber of Deputies, the Electric Reform, as the parliamentary factions are facing a great deal of anger among those who are in favor of and against the initiative of the president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO).

For religious reasons, they were made official from 10 to 16 April as the days of leave related to the Catholic tradition; however, Sunday, April 17 is a rest and it will be until Tuesday when they sit.

Despite this, on the last day of the session, a parliamentary spectacle was offered among the senators who were in the plenary session, this is because Ricardo Monreal, president of the Senate Political Coordination Board (Jucopo), discussed with some colleagues from other benches, who could not counter the arguments of the standard-bearer of Morena.

And it is that after the participation of E milio Álvarez Icaza, Beatriz Paredes Rangel and Julen Rementería del Puerto, who criticized the performance of Adán Augusto López Hernández, head of the Segob, for using a National Guard (GN) plane, Dr. Monreal Ávila used the tribune to point out that it is not the responsibility of the Chamber but the Office of the Attorney-General of the Republic (FGR).

He then had a second participation, in which he accepted the questions of five more senators (four from the PAN and one from the PRI): Kenya López Rabadán, Victor Fuentes Solis, Lilly Tellez García, Erandi Bermudez Méndez and Jorge Ramírez Marín (PRI). Being the only one of the senator of the Institutional Revolutionary who appeared without hostility.

He first answered Kenia López Rabadán, who asked him if the holders of Segob and GN violated the law. In that sense, the PAN player asked to reduce the answer by a yes or no; however, the one for Regeneration Nacional did not fall into provocation and reiterated that as a senator it is not his responsibility to make that judgment and reminded him that due process exists for this, “I am not a judge, I am not the Public Ministry”, he reiterated.

Likewise, Lilly Tellez took the floor to reject Ricardo Monreal, but the senator did not ask any questions, she simply quoted President López Obrador, to argue that it was “the greatest insult we have ever heard in the history of this country towards the laws and the Constitution that he himself swore to comply.” Consequently, Ricardo Monreal congratulated her:

Finally, Jorge Ramírez Marín and Erandi Bermudez did the same to raise the meaning of public debate and, in a more conciliatory sense, the fellow leader of Morena's Senate bench pointed out that this is how it should happen in the House. Afterwards, they continued with the agenda of the session.
