The parliamentarian of Juntos for Peru, Sigrid Bazán, spoke in an interview with Epicentro TV about the intense unrest generated by this Tuesday, April 5, in the streets of downtown Lima, for the march that began in Plaza San Martín against President Pedro Castillo.
Bazán was consulted about her closeness and that of her bench with the current Government of Peru Libre. In this regard, he assured that his parliamentary group is not an “ally of the government”, but that legislators within it remain critical of the Perulibrist administration.
“I never said that my party was not an ally of the government, I don't have a formal membership, my bench has a member who is part of the cabinet. I don't consider myself an ally of the government,” she said.
In addition, at another time, the space host, Anuska Buenaluque, questioned her words, as she assured that the former party leader, Verónika Mendoza, has maintained and has made government with President Pedro Castillo”.
“That's the truth. She has been silent watching from the barrier, she has placed ministers, she has participated in alleged crisis resolutions and has remained silent, but she has continued to operate,” said the journalist.
Along the same lines, Bazán stated that “he never defended Pedro Castillo, but the presidential figure l”. “It's very simplistic to say Verónika (Mendoza) and Vladimir Cerrón are the same thing and want to take over the state,” he said.
At another time, in an interview with RPP Noticias, he criticized President Pedro Castillo for decree a curfew in Metropolitan Lima and Callao, since in his opinion he did not have any kind of prior evaluation and considered that the president was advised by his enemies.
“What President Castillo has done is because he has been advised by his own enemies. I don't know who could have recommended such a measure to the president, which also goes to Congress and raises it, zero seriousness on this issue,” he said in the interview.
The Juntos for Peru parliamentarian said that all those who voted for Pedro Castillo must be disappointed, but we must still demand changes from the president to improve the course of his government.
On the other hand, the parliamentarian Sigrid Bazán announced that next Thursday, the unions of Sutep, CGTP and those of Civil Construction will take to the streets to express their demands. In that regard, he announced that he would participate in those mobilizations.
“The second agrarian reform is on the ground. The Executive has not done anything especially in family farming and we have people who are dying of hunger,” he said.
AT ODDS WITH THE PRESIDENT'S RESIGNATION
Bazán considered that the solution to the crisis is not a resignation of the president, noting that the ideal is an amendment by the president and recommended that he recompose his Cabinet once again to make things better; however, he criticized the head of state for leaving the meeting with the Board of Congressional spokesmen saying he would sign decrees.
“I do not think that the unilateral departure of the president to assume the vice-president and in turn the head of the Congress is a solution. I do not think that someone who promotes this, altruistically and selflessly believes in democratic succession. It is a path and a possibility, I don't want to raise it right now,” emphasized the parliamentarian.
