
From the publication of the report of the aggregated results of the Saber 11 Tests in the first period of 2021, the performance of the students and schools evaluated was observed. Among other data, participation in these tests is highlighted, according to that of the Colombian Institute for the Evaluation of Education, ICFES, the highest participation of 11th grade students in the last 10 years was recorded. Bogotá was the city with the most students taking the test with 71,527, followed by Medellín with 22,576. The department of Vaupés and Guainía recorded the fewest examinations with 305 and 324 respectively.
The average overall score in calendar A is 250 points, 2 less compared to 2020. In contrast, calendar B recorded an increase of 5 points compared to the same period. In both cases, the institute reports, there is a negative trend that has been observed since 2015 with respect to the average global score.
In this regard, Mónica Ospina Londoño, director general of ICFES, during the discussion promoted by the World Bank for Latin America and the Caribbean, on strategies implemented to address the challenges of the pandemic in education systems in Colombia, referred to the tools for assessing the lessons learned from the strategy “Evaluate for Progress”; he assured that they are useful to complement the academic plans being developed in the country's Ministries of Education. Although, he points out that: “disaggregated and detailed analyses are required to identify learning losses by subgroup and by competence”.

Based on the data presented, La República compiled a list of the 25 schools with the lowest scores in the Saber 11 Tests. Nine are located in the department of Chocó, 23 are official institutions, another 9 are dedicated to the indigenous population and 2 have a rural focus.

One conclusion that ICFES makes is that half of the cities that took the tests exceeded the average national score in 2021, which is 250 points,
