On March 25, the Sierra de Santiago, in Nuevo León, was hit by a strong forest fire that today has consumed around 2,200 hectares.
According to the latest report from the State Civil Protection (PC), the accident has been controlled by 95% and a decrease in heat points is reported, thanks to the support of the DC-10 aircraft.
However, in the face of the destruction caused by the flames in the area, the Neoloan governor, Samuel García, declared that the entity “can no longer withstand one more fire”, so he decreed the prohibition of any type of campfires and roasted meats, as well as the securing of flammable objects and checkpoints in the natural areas of the entity.
It should be recalled that the Government of Coahuila, led by Miguel Riquelme, intervened with aircraft and resources to support fire mitigation. An act that García Sepúlveda repeatedly thanked through his social networks.

Due to the rapid advance that this fire had as a result of the wind gusts, 5 7 families with 120 people living in the village located in the affected site were evacuated. and transferred to a hostel at the Cola de Caballo Hotel.
According to Samuel García, the fire was caused by an uncontrolled burning of garbage in due course, which began to spread in the area where the tall pines were located. Faced with this, the president ruled:
According to article 420 Bis paragraph 4 of the Federal Penal Code, it is stipulated that persons who cause fires in a forest, forest or natural vegetation could be punished by 2 to 10 years' imprisonment, as well as 300 to 3,000 days' fine.

The government of Nuevo León issued a declaration of emergency due to the two fires that occurred during the month of March in the entity, which came into force last Monday, April 4. The first was reported on March 14 and the second on March 25.
According to the Official State Newspaper, the Secretary of Finance and General Treasury of the State will be responsible for reallocating resources to address and monitor the effects arising from accidents, through programs and projects that meet the needs of the affected groups.
Although the amount allocated for the rehabilitation of the area consumed by fire in the Sierra de Santiago or Las Adjuntas was not specified, it was recalled that since February 9, areas covering vegetation, trees, grasslands, weeds and scrublands in general have been declared as closed areas for the use of fire, so that campfires were prohibited in these areas.
