The Minister of Defense, José Luis Gavidia, was present this afternoon at kilometer 13 of the Central Highway, where there was a picket and closure of roads. He assured that they have been working hard to solve the economic crisis that belongs to everyone. “Listen to us. Yesterday, fuel prices were already lowered.” That was the phrase that generated the anger of those present who began to complain.
“If they don't let me talk, we won't understand each other. If you haven't seen the news yesterday, there are our devices that cancel the ISC. The faucets are not really lowering the same measures, we have to demand that faucets also lower prices,” he said.
It was at that time that the Protestants asked the minister to accompany them to a tap in the area to check prices. They advanced a few meters to the Petroperú service station and an incident arose that could have been regrettable.
It was indeed verified that gasoline prices were around 20 soles. But the protesters became violent and took out the price signs and knocked on the door so that the tap administrators could come out and give explanations.
Shortly after, the minister indicated that the Central Highway had been liberated, but it was verified that this was not the case. “We have spoken to the population, they have understood that it is not the way to protest, to interrupt traffic is to violate the rights of other citizens,” he told the press.
According to him, citizens are already moving peacefully to their homes. “It is understandable that they claim, there is a fair demand that we have to face,” he said.
He also said that there are problems that the Government is already solving and the population “must have faith” that other issues will be resolved, such as tolls and the exoneration of IGV for products from the family basket.
“We are making every effort to deal with this crisis, which is all over the world. Let us not aggravate the economic crisis with a political crisis, the political crisis does not help solve the problems,” he emphasized.
Gavidia argued that everyone has to do their part to get out of the crisis.
“Politicians too, do nothing against each other, hopefully the congressmen will accompany us to be architects of the works for which they will remember them in their regions,” he added.
