The Secretary General of the Movement for National Regeneration (Morena), Citlalli Hernández Mora, took a stand against Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) for having released a song in which they called the Electric Reform “toxic”, which has been promoted by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador ( AMLO).
Through his official Twitter account, Hernández Mora came out in defense of López Obrador's reform by asking the orange party to argue what he said in his song.
“Just look at #DerechaNaranja. They think that the people are dumb and generate content that is frankly meaningless and false. I invite @MovCiudadanoMX to ARGUE why yes or no #ReformaEléctrica. It is FALSE that it is polluting, on the contrary. I can sustain it, can you?” , wrote Citlalli Hernandez on social media.

Hernández Mora's statements came after he reacted to a publication by MC on the platform. The orange party created a fictional character they called Bad Carboni, alluding to the successful Puerto Rican reggaeton player Bad Bunny, to give voice to the issue criticized by the Electric Reform.
The song that created the orange party reads: “One more reform that will pollute. What is going to happen to you is not going to be remedied. I arrive with my Electric and Toxic Reform, but don't panic, I'm just going to increase greenhouse gases with a 65% increase. It is the Electricity Reform that is the most toxic.”
For his part, the national leader of MC, Dante Delgado, indicated that the Electricity Reform “represents the most polluting past in our country.”
“At @MovCiudadanoMX we want the next generations to have the right to breathe clean air and live in a better future,” Delgado wrote on his Twitter profile.

During his morning conference on April 1, López Obrador said that in his meeting last Thursday with the United States Special Envoy for Climate, John Kerry; the US Ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar and American Union entrepreneurs in the energy sector, Mexico clarified that the Reform Eléctrica is not a statist or expropriation initiative.
“They were explained the reason for this initiative and apparently they felt taken care of and satisfied because it is not true that the initiative has to do with promoting dirty energy. It's not true that we don't mind producing solar, wind, water energy in hydroelectric plants. We are making a great effort because we are no longer going to create any plant that produces coal-fired energy,” said the Chief Executive.
Despite the optimism of Tabasqueño, the US Embassy issued a statement detailing that during the meeting there was communication about the questions that U.S. legislators and businessmen have regarding the Electricity Industry Bill, as it would put billions of dollars of investment at risk.

“Secretary Kerry and Ambassador Salazar reiterated the important concerns the United States has raised about the changes in Mexico's energy policy, both the proposed constitutional amendment and the changes to the Electrical Industry Act, including the possible violation of the fundamental obligations of the T -MEC, which puts billions of dollars of potential investment in Mexico and increased greenhouse gas emissions at risk,” the statement reads.
According to the text, for the US the reform could imply an “increase in greenhouse gas emissions”, so Kerry stressed that the fight against climate change must be accelerated.
