US President Joe Biden said Friday that more than 30 countries have joined the United States to take advantage of national oil reserves in an attempt to resolve global energy markets frightened by the consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“This morning, more than 30 countries around the world came together in an extraordinary meeting and agreed to release tens of millions of additional barrels of oil into the market,” Biden said in a speech from the White House.
He also said that the US economy has “gone from recovering to being on the move,” following the publication of data showing that the unemployment rate fell almost to where it was before the pandemic.
“Americans are back to work,” said the head of state, who said the economy had added 431,000 jobs last month.
