The war between President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) and the National Electoral Institute (INE) does not stop, and the last affront was decided by the president, who assured that will present a proposal for Electoral Reform following the Mandate Revocation process that will take place on 10 April.
This amendment to the law seeks, according to Tabasqueño, “to guarantee democracy”, so he said that he will seek to propose that citizens elect the Electoral Councillors and the judges of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judiciary of the Federation (TEPJF) by means of open voting.
Faced with this statement, the politician of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena), Porfirio Muñoz Ledo, exploded against the head of the Federal Executive and affirmed that this change could return the electoral institutions to the way they were in previous administrations.
In an interview with journalist Azucena Uresti for her space on Radio Formula, she declared that López Obrador “knows nothing”, as the evolution of the electoral system has taken effort for years to make them work as they do today.
“The one who knows nothing is my friend Andrés Manuel, there is a kind of historical paralysis, he wants to bring the electoral institutions back to the time of Ruiz Cortines, when it was a single state system. The evolution of the electoral system has cost lives, has cost efforts and cannot be thrown overboard,” said Muñoz Ledo.

Porfirio Muñoz also asserted that AMLO's proposals will turn Mexico into a “quartotecracy”, as the Fourth Transformation (Q4) movement is seeking to regain control of electoral processes, as in previous governments in which fraud was reported in the elections.
“To centralize is to control it from the federation, to pretend that the people choose the counselors on the proposal of the president so that they only come out of those he wants, is an unspeakable setback,” said Muñoz Ledo.
Finally, the politician who has shown affinity with the Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) party assured that he will not participate in the Mandate Revocation, a process that he described as “cantinflesco”, since the Tabasqueño “does it to ratify, the other parties do not promote because they know it is a farce, I am not going to lend myself to this farce”, he concluded.
According to the president's proposal, it will be intended that the three branches of government will present 20 citizens, “of unobjectionable honesty” to be nominated as INE Councillors. “Something similar will apply to the case of judges (...) they will be voted in open elections, the one who gets the most votes, that will be the president, looking for them to be half women half men,” he said during the morning.
This came after a reporter notified him that the Electoral Tribunal of the Federation Judiciary (TEPJF) approved a decree annulling the power's agreement which allowed to promote the Revocation of Mandate.

It was in mid-March that the Congress of the Union approved the decree modifying the definition of the Scope of the Concept of Government Propaganda, with the sole objective of enabling any public official to have the capacity to speak freely about the revocation of the mandate, even in the electoral ban.
However, at the request of Judge Felipe de la Mata Pizaña, it was analyzed whether the Interpretation Decree was applicable due to the proximity of the electoral day for the revocation of the mandate.
The authority concluded that the decree on authentic interpretation is inapplicable in cases of a revocation of mandate, since rather an exception was established to the prohibition thereof, which is in violation of what is stated in the Constitution.
In addition, it was confirmed that the precautionary measures of the Complaints and Complaints of the National Electoral Institute (INE) against Morena and other political actors continue to be in place to remove publications supporting AMLO from their social networks.
