A terrible report of child abuse has been reported in Piura, in the human settlement of the Castilla district. A subject was recorded by his neighbors while he subjected to cruel abuse of a three-year-old baby, who would be the son of his current partner.
In the images you can see the man pulling the child by one arm and taking him to a barbed wire where he passed him repeatedly, seeking to hook him. The man continues to act despite the baby's crying.
As if that were not enough, he then forces the minor to walk barefoot through the warm earth. In addition, the boy was thrown into a hole, where the man throws stones at him. Torture also includes pulling the baby by one arm and turning it around to make him dizzy.
THE COMPLAINT
After the authorities became aware of the ill-treatment, the man was arrested by the police on Wednesday night and taken to the Tacalá police station.
According to the news program Buenos Dias Peru, the child's mother would be covering for her partner. In addition, they noted that the complaint was made by the neighbors themselves, who have already witnessed the repeated mistreatment of the subject. Therefore, they decided to record it through the hole, without the man noticing it.
Investigations will continue and it is expected that the subject will receive an appropriate sentence and that security measures will be provided for the minor.
CHILD ABUSE ON THE RISE
According to an epidemiological study developed by the National Institute of Mental Health (INSM) of the Ministry of Health published in September 2021, aggressions and clinical disorders in children and adolescents, as well as violent behavior within families, were increased by 50 per cent in Metropolitan Lima compared to previous years.
The report notes that 60.3% of children aged 6 to 11 years, 44.4% aged 1.5 to 5 years and 59.3% of adolescents have been victims of physical abuse by their caregivers during the pandemic.
In addition, 40.7% of adolescents received psychological violence, 34% of children aged 6 to 11 years and 25% in children aged 1.5 to 5 years.
Depression is the most common clinical problem in 31.5% of adolescents, and the fear of separation from an attachment figure predominates in 42.40% of children aged 6 to 11.
STRESSED PARENTS
Meanwhile, psychiatrist Rolando Pomalima Rodríguez, executive director of the Department of Research, Teaching and Specialized Care for Children and Adolescents of the INSM, the organic unit that carried out the research, said that parents are often very stressed during the pandemic.
Along these lines, they perceive their children's behavior as stressful, which leads them to violent behaviors that frighten and alienate minors, thus affecting their normal development.
The specialist urged parents to be alert and seek professional help for symptoms of depression and anxiety or when there are problems with behavior, aggression and sleep. “Minors are more quiet or irritable, they lock themselves in their room, they can't sleep and they have feelings of guilt; they are suffering.”
