The World Cup has started! FIFA announced the latest update of the ranking and officially confirmed the four pots that will be in next Friday's draw from 19 local time (13 in Argentina) at the Qatar Convention Center. The highest body will place the countries according to their position in the list that it usually publishes and now it only remains for the balls of each selection to start rolling to define the locations in the contest that will be held between November and December of this year.
In the last update, which is dated March 31, the ranking is now led by Brazil. Tite's team, which finished in first place in the South American Qualifiers with 45 points as a result of 14 wins and 3 draws - missing the suspended match against Argentina - scored 1832.69 points and surpassed Belgium (1827), which dominated the standings in the last records.
The only change from the most recent update is that Canada, due to the defeat to Panama on the final date of the Qualifiers in Concacaf, dropped to 38th place and will move to Pot 4. In this way, Tunisia will be placed in Pot 3 after positioning itself in 35th place.
France remains in third place, as does Argentina (4th), England (5th), Italy (6th) -will not be in the next World Cup-, Spain (7th) and Portugal (8th). Mexico rose three positions and ranks 9th, while the top ten is completed by the Netherlands (10th).
Meanwhile, Denmark (11th) and Germany (12th) dropped one place compared to the previous update on February 10, and Uruguay grew three places - from 16th to 13th - after its last two victories and its move to the World Cup.

THE RULES OF THE RAFFLE
The 29 qualified teams, the two intercontinental playoffs and the UEFA play-off quota will be divided into four groups of eight teams each, based on the World Ranking published on 31 March 2022, following the end of the international match window in March 2022. According to the standings, the top seven teams, along with the host, Qatar, are assigned to group 1. Selections ranked from 8 to 15 are assigned to group 2. The teams qualified from 16 to 23 are assigned to group 3 and, finally, group 4 includes the teams classified from 24 to 28, in addition to the two places that will be occupied by the winners of the intercontinental qualifiers scheduled for 13 and 14 June 2022 and the place of the winner of the UEFA playoff.
The general principle of FIFA, wherever possible, is to ensure that no group has more than one team from the same qualifying area. This applies to all areas, except Europe, which is represented by 13 teams. Each group must have at least one European team, but no more than two. Thus, five of the eight groups will have two European teams.
The geographical distribution of the winner of the UEFA repechage and the two winners of the intercontinental repechage will also follow the general principle of “separation” of teams from the same qualifying area
The geographical allocation of each intercontinental repechage place shall be based on the pairings of the confederation teams participating in that specific match of the intercontinental repechage
