In the last few hours there was an emergency in the rural area of Caldas, Antioquia. It is a landslide that so far leaves behind a destroyed house, an injured person and apparently others more trapped in the rubble.
The site of the emergency, according to the first reports, was attended by members of the National Police, as well as the Official Fire Department of the municipality of Caldas. A man who had been trapped among the material that slipped by the heavy rains that have occurred in the department of Antioquia recently, was rescued by the relief agencies, who reported that the citizen had some injuries.
On the other hand, some local media have indicated that there are apparently several people trapped in the rubble left by the collapse in Caldas, Antioquia; however, these versions have not been confirmed by the authorities or relief agencies dealing with the emergency in the rural area of that municipality located in the Valley of Aburrá.
This emergency was apparently reported specifically in the village of La Quiebra, a rural area of the municipality of Caldas. Civil Defense units also arrived at the scene and have been carrying out evacuation work. Relief agencies are asking families located in this sector to leave their homes because of the risk of a new landslide and thus various risks to their integrity.
It should be remembered that the winter wave and heavy rains have generated several emergencies in Antioquia over the past month. Even with the arrival of the first rainy season of the year, the authorities warned that several municipalities in that department were on alert for possible risks of floods and landslides, among other emergencies.
