Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard strongly assured that if the head of the Pentagon's Northern Command, General Glen VanHerck, has the evidence that Russia has the largest number of spies in Mexico, then he will present them.
In an interview with El Universal and prior to his participation in the World Government Summit (World Government Summit), the Mexican foreign minister asserted that the US military's sayings are only “a statement” while rejecting that Joe Biden's government give Mexico a line in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
When questioned about General Glen VanHerck's alleged revelations, Ebrard said:

“Let us know, because that is a statement,” he said.
- So, what do they present evidence? , he was asked
“Present them,” the chancellor bluntly released.
On what was said by the US ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar, who warned before deputies that Mexico cannot be close to Russia, Marcelo Ebrard said that the diplomatic representative “is in his role.”
“It is in its role, but it is a decision that falls to the Mexican Congress,” emphasized Ebrard Casaubón, clarifying that the US does not dictate “line” to the Mexican government regarding the situation in Eastern Europe.

“No, the line that Mexico has drawn can be found in the positions in the United Nations Security Council. Last week Mexico made an important step forward with the UN General Assembly resolution, with 140 votes. It is Mexican diplomacy, together with France, so that there is a cessation of hostilities, between humanitarian aid and the start of negotiations,” said the Mexican foreign minister.
He even assured that the war between Russia and Ukraine would be about to end in the near future.
“That's going to happen, we're right, it's a matter of days or weeks, and it's going to happen and that's Mexico's position, which is a position of prestige, of relative weight, if not how do you get 140 votes?” , he stressed.
It should be recalled that last Thursday, March 24, the head of the US Northern Command, Glen Van Herck, assured that the largest number of Russian intelligence agents are in Mexico.
“I would like to point out that most of the GRU (Glavnoye Razvedyvatelnoye Upravlenie) members in the world are in Mexico at the moment. Those are Russian intelligence personnel. And they closely monitor their opportunities to have influence in the United States,” he said when he appeared before the Senate of the American Union.
The next day, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that Mexico “is not a colony of Russia, nor of China, nor of the United States.”

“It's a statement. We are not going to question anything, we are respectful of the free manifestation of ideas. Mexico is a free, independent, sovereign country... it must be known more and more because sometimes it seems that it is not understood enough, we must send them telegrams warning them that Mexico is not a colony of any foreign country, that Mexico is a free, independent and sovereign country. That we are not a colony of Russia, nor of China, nor of the United States,” he emphasized at his morning conference on Friday, March 25.
López Obrador stressed that he has no information about the alleged presence of Russian spies, but emphasized that Mexico does not allow anyone to commit illegal activities on national soil.
On Saturday, March 26, the Russian embassy in Mexico denied that it has spies in our country.
“The Russian Embassy has carefully analysed the speech of Mr. Glen D. VanHerck and his opinion has no basis about the presence of 'Russian military spies' in Mexico. Once again we can observe US propaganda that has as one of its main objectives to isolate Russia and Russian diplomats around the world through fake news,” he said through a text released on his social networks.
