José Luis Gavidia on accusations against the President's nephews: “Those who acted outside the law will have to answer for their actions”

The head of the Ministry of Defense (Mindef), José Luis Gavidia, referred to the case of the Tarata III Bridge and the escape of Bruno Pacheco and nephews of President Pedro Castillo. He indicated that if they had committed a crime, they must answer for their actions and surrender to the Peruvian justice system.

“Anyone who acted badly or outside the law will have to answer for their own actions,” he told Canal N.

This is in reference to Gian Marco Castillo and Fray Vasquez Castillo, who are currently not in preliminary detention as they are involved in the investigation being carried out by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office of the Puente Tarata III case.

But the minister was clear in separating the aforementioned characters from President Castillo. He insisted that “justice must act in the most appropriate way”. “Yesterday the president was very clear with his disclaimers: he does not have to answer for inappropriate behavior or inappropriate acts by third parties,” he said.

“Undoubtedly, we have taken it quite humbly. There are no winners or losers. The country needs unity. Definitely, the vote was practically 54-55, but that's not what's important. The important thing is that, I think, that we are entering a new phase, a new phase of working together on the problems of economic crisis, health crisis that we have not finished, a social crisis and the political crisis, which is gradually being resolved, to meet the most urgent needs of our country”, concluded.

DINA BOLUARTE ASKS THE PRESIDENT'S NEPHEWS TO SHOW THEIR FACES

Another member of the Executive Branch who spoke on the case was the Vice-President of the Republic and head of the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Minsa), Dina Boluarte .

“The president's environment is 'not had', I hope they get right, because they have said: 'He who fears nothing owes' what are they afraid of? present yourselves in the face, it is the best way to face problems, showing your face, no matter who falls, be it Bruno Pacheco, the nephews whoever they are, that the investigation is carried out in accordance with the legal framework,” he told RPP Noticias.

THE CASE

This is because on Monday, businessman Zamir Villaverde was preliminarily detained for 15 days, at his home in La Molina, at the request of the Public Ministry. The institution is investigating the irregular award of Puente Tarata III and the unofficial meetings of President Pedro Castillo at the Sarratea passage house in Breña. The case also involves Karelim López , Bruno Pacheco, and the nephews of the head of state.

According to ATV Noticias source, there is a search and arrest warrant for 11 people, including former Palacio Secretary Bruno Pacheco, who would not have been placed at his home at the time of the intervention carried out by the Intelligence Division and the Directorate Against Corruption (DIRCOCOR) from 6 a.m.

In addition, the preliminary arrest warrant would also reach Fray Vasquez Castillo, the president's nephew, who is facing a motion for presidential vacancy.

According to Caretas magazine, the supra provincial corporate prosecutor for corruption offences of officials in Lima would also search the homes of those investigated: Victor Valdivia Malpartida, George Pasapera Adrianzén, Luis Carlos Elias Pasapera Adrianzén, Hector Antonio Pasapera López, Edgar William Vargas Mas, Victor Rony San Miguel Velasquez, Alcides Villafuerte Vizcarra, Friar Vasquez Castillo, Gian Marco Castillo Gomez and Bruno Pacheco Castillo.
