The rumors surrounding Federico Gutiérrez's vice-presidential formula

A few days after the closing of registrations for the winners of interparty consultations with the Colombian presidency, the name of the vice-presidential formula of Federico Gutiérrez, the winner of the Team for Colombia coalition, remains unknown.

Some of his followers hoped that the name of the chosen one would be released this Thursday in Barranquilla, following the meeting of Fico and his coalition partner, Álex Char, who came second in the same consultation.

The meeting, which was also attended by Uribista Senator María Fernanda Cabal, took place before the football match between the Colombian National Team and the Bolivian team. Some photos came out of the meeting for social networks, but it did not lead to any announcement about Fico's companion on the presidential road.

Then, the name of your vice-presidential formula will be a mystery until the time of registration, next Monday, March 28. Meanwhile, social networks are speculating with some profiles that could fit what the former mayor of Medellín is looking for. Here are some of them.

Barranquilla Eduardo Verano de la Rosa is a politician of the Liberal Party who has been governor of the Atlantic on two occasions, in addition to having been Minister of Environment in the government of Ernesto Samper and a member of the liberal bench of the 1991 National Constituent Assembly.

Summer would be one of the most likely to occupy this position. He has even received support from leaders such as Alirio Barrera, former governor of Casanare and senator elected by the Democratic Center. The llanero described him as “Excellent representative of the communities, executor, leader and above all, transparent acting”

In fact, Verano uploaded a photograph together with Federico Gutiérrez on his Twitter account during his visit to the Atlantic capital, with a message that implied that he would have discussed political issues with the candidate.

Elsa Noguera, also from Barranquilla, has been mayor of that city, vice-presidential formula of Germán Vargas Lleras and Minister of Housing in the government of Juan Manuel Santos. Today she is the governor of the Atlantic.

Close to the Char clan, Noguera is another popular name for Fico's vice presidency. However, she denied that she was interested in the position: “We are not going to resign at all. We don't know where that rumor comes from, we are happy and excited about what is happening in the department.” There is also a question as to whether she would be disabled by her position as governor.

Since some rumors would indicate that the vice-presidential formula has already been elected and is a woman, the name of Isabel Segovia Ospina, academic and deputy minister of education in the second government of Álvaro Uribe Vélez, also rang out.

Segovia was Enrique Peñalosa's vice-presidential formula in his 2018 presidential aspiration. She is a historian and has mastery of environmental issues.

The names of the other candidates of the Team for Colombia also sound like Fico's formula; especially former mayor of Barranquilla Álex Char and former conservative senator David Barguil, second and third place in the coalition consultation, and the president of the U Party, Dilian Francisca Toro, who was Peñalosa's formula in the campaign for the consultation of Team for Colombia.

In his last statements from Barranquilla, Federico continued to play with the press and invited “not to believe in so many stories and so many gossips”. According to him, the decision has not yet been made and profiles are still being analyzed.
