Next Sunday, March 27, International Theater Day will be celebrated, so the Gilberto Álzate Avendaño Foundation (FUGA) organized different activities aimed at the different audiences living in the Colombian capital.
This commemoration was inaugurated worldwide in 1962 on the initiative of the International Theater Institute (ITI). This 2022 marks 60 years of uninterrupted celebration of this day, a date that seeks to recognize the value and importance of theater in societies.

Deceased in 2021, Jorge Plata was one of the founders of the Teatro Libre in Bogotá. Director, actor, teacher, translator of plays; in short, a playwright with all his lyrics. Students from the Dramatic Art programs of the Central University and the ASAB Academy of Arts (of the Francisco de Paula Santander District University) will do the dramatic reading of A Wall in the Garden, written by Maestro Plata.

Launch of the podcast No Time to Cry

It is not time to cry is a radio theater play that was recorded in 2021 based on a text written by Angelica García, winner in 2020 of the call for Artistic Internships of the FUGA, one of the stimuli in the strategic line of training. At that time, Angelica was mentored by Fabio Rubiano (actor, director, teacher and playwright, director of the Petra Theater) to train for a few months in the area of dramaturgy.
Children's play Shipwreck - Colectivo La Perforadora

The La Perforadora collective is a platform for interdisciplinary artistic research in the performing arts, especially in dance, performance and theater. It presents Naufragio, a play full of music and fun characters that tells the story of a storybook that has been shipwrecked in a thunderstorm and although its characters survived, they have lost their memory. The children in the audience will be responsible for helping them understand what happened and put an end to the narratives.
The foundation recently announced that it will award 100 million pesos to the winners of the Center of Bogotá Cultural and Creative Management Award, which is part of the District Stimulus Program of the Ministry of Culture, Recreation and Sport.
The call, which will be open until April 29, will deliver five incentives, each worth $20,000,000, in the categories of Arts and Heritage, Conventional Cultural Industries; Functional Creations, New Media and Software, Community Cultural Organizations and Independent Space Management.
