This Thursday, March 24, the mayor of Medellín, Daniel Quintero, announced the second stage in the delivery of the 'Future Computers' to high school students in the capital of Antioquia.
As announced by the local president through his Twitter account, this new phase began in the town of San Sebastián de Palmitas. Trucks loaded with these technological tools arrived to that rural area to be delivered to 11th grade students.
“The most remote areas of Medellín also reach the #ComputadoresFuturo. Today all 11th grade students in rural San Sebastián de Palmitas receive one,” said Daniel Quintero through his Twitter account.
According to the local president, approximately eight thousand computer equipment will be delivered this week, in addition to the 5,500 that were delivered last month.
Students from Medellin will have a computer to advance their studies
'Computadores Futuro' is a commitment by the Mayor's Office of Medellín to reduce inequality gaps in access to study for children and young people in the capital of Antioquia.
Initially, the objective is to provide these computers to students in secondary basic education, but the idea is to also reach those who take technical middle school programs, among others.
It should be recalled that since last year the administration of Daniel Quintero announced the contractual process with an investment of 80 billion pesos to achieve the goal of delivering 70,000 computers during 2022.
The Mayor's Office of Medellín highlighted that professionals configure and install on these devices about 30 programs for academic training in robotics, programming, design, construction, English, among others.
Before the first installment, which took place last month in Comuna 1 - Popular, the Mayor's Office of Medellín explained what was the process that was carried out after reception and before delivery to students.
“The computers are uncovered, tested that they are working, they are put on the Municipality card and they go to the part of the configuration that takes approximately ten minutes on each computer, because a package is installed that connects to a cloud server and the computer connected to the internet is responsible for downloading the programs and installing them,” he said. the technician of the Help Desk of the Ministry of Education, Juan Felipe Pareja.
On the process of acquiring these tools, the municipal administration reported that it initiated a public call on July 28, 2021, and on August 30 of that same year, the electronic reverse auction contest was held in which five companies participated. After this process, the contract was awarded to the company Nueva Era Soluciones.
