Yet another case of alleged forgery of signatures and impersonation of members of the polling station of the last general elections who allegedly favored the current president of the republic, Pedro Castillo.
This is how the Public Prosecutor's Office notified the Public Prosecutor's Office of the National Elections Jury (JNE). Thus, there are already 11 cases filed from the complaints filed by Fuerza Popular for alleged irregularities in the second round of the 2021 general elections.
“The Public Prosecutor's Office of the JNE was notified by the Prosecutor's Office of the willingness to order the definitive filing of a new case of alleged falsification of signatures and impersonation of table members in the #Elecciones2021. So there are 11 cases filed,” he reads on his Twitter account.
With this provision of the Prosecutor's Office, the JNE confirms that there was no electoral fraud and that it acted with transparency in the 2021 presidential elections, where the new head of state and congressmen were chosen.
For his part, the president of the National Elections Jury, Jorge Luis Salas Arenas, specified before the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) that the 2021 General Elections were fair and transparent.
Salsa, during its participation in the virtual ordinary session of that council, presented the final report of the OAS Electoral Observation Mission sent to Peru for the 2021 General Elections and reiterated that there was no fraud due to falsification of signatures or impersonation of table members, as stated by the party led by Keiko Fujimori.
He added that the plenary session of the JNE reviewed 271 appeals for annulments that were filed in the second round of the last elections, of which 19 were referred to the Public Prosecutor's Office to carry out the corresponding investigations.
Salas Arenas recalled that there is currently a commission of the Congress of the Republic, which is investigating an alleged electoral fraud in 2021, whose work has not been possible know since they work in secret. He added that precisely on the day that this final report is submitted, consolidating the correctness of the elections, this working group should meet to present its conclusions, but such a session did not take place.
FINAL REPORT
The OAS report presented by the Head of Mission, former Paraguayan Foreign Minister, Rubén Ramírez Lezcano, highlighted the professional work of Peruvian electoral authorities in organizing a process of great complexity, amid the pandemic and political polarization.
It also condemned the disinformation campaigns on social networks and the attacks on the arbitrator of the electoral process, which sought to cast doubt and discredit the work of the electoral bodies and, even, of the observation missions themselves.
The head of the OAS EOM also emphasized that all electoral bodies provided support and ease of access to information, so that foreign observers could verify the work of bureau members, representatives and supervisors, before, during and after the elections, as well as post-election work electoral.
The virtual session was also attended by the Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro; ambassadors and various representatives of the countries of the Americas; the Permanent Representative of Peru to the OAS, Ambassador Harold Forsyth Mejia; as well as the head of the National Office for Electoral Processes (ONPE), Piero Corvetto Salinas.
