During the last visit that the President of the Republic, Iván Duque, made to the department of Bolívar, he indicated that “in these almost four years of government we have incorporated more than 1,600,000 hectares into the Banco de Tierras for the Colombian peasants” and specified that there are more than 12,000 properties.
The announcement was made during his visit to the municipality of María La Baja, where he also stressed:
He also assured that “an allocation of nearly 460,000 hectares has been made to Colombian peasants” and in this regard, he added:
“This is the largest land allocation ever made in Colombia,” President Duque emphasized, adding that “it exceeds what President Carlos Lleras Restrepo (1966-70) did at the time when he founded Incora (Colombian Institute of Agrarian Reform).”

During President Duque's visit, the Building Country Workshop was held, during which 127 titles of rural and urban property were awarded in the municipality of María La Baja. According to information from the Presidency of the Republic, 52,000 rural titles have been generated to date — benefiting 60,000 rural families in the countryside Colombian — and more than 45,000 urban titles that have favored inhabitants of 261 municipalities.
The head of state also took the opportunity to recall that at the beginning of his administration he said:
It should be said that the event was attended by the Minister of Agriculture, Rodolfo Zea Navarro; the Presidential Counselor for the Regions, Ansa María Palau; the Superintendent of Notaries and Registry, Fernanda García; the director in Colombia of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Larry Sacks; the governor of Bolivar, Vicente Blel, and the mayor of María La Baja, Raquel Sierra.
In recent days, President Duque also inaugurated the germplasm bank of Palmira (Valle del Cauca), which, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, will have the capacity to store approximately 250,000 seeds of beans, cassava, fodder and others.
In this way, the space will also be a center for discussion, research and analysis on the issues of climate change, mitigation, biodiversity and environmental sustainability.
For his part, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Rodolfo Zea Navarro, said that the facilities of this genebank are pioneers and are at the forefront of issues of sustainability, technology and innovation.
