The Portuguese Miguel Oliveira (KTM) won the Indonesian motorcycle Grand Prix on Sunday, the second of the MotoGP season, on the drenched track of the Mandalika circuit, ahead of the French Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), current world champion.
Another Frenchman, Johann Zarco (Ducati-Pramac), completed the podium for this second race of the season, after which the Italian Enea Bastianini (Ducati-Gresini), winner of the first GP fifteen days ago in Qatar, remains in the lead with 30 points, despite having finished only 11th place in Mandalika.
The race, delayed by an hour and a quarter due to heavy rain on the island of Lombok, did not feature six-time MotoGP champion Marc Márquez, Spaniard Marc Márquez, who suffered a concussion after a violent fall during the previous warm-up.
Oliveira, who started from 7th position on the starting grid, achieved his fourth victory in the premier category of speed motorcycling, after winning two wins in 2020 and one in 2021.
For his part, Quartararo, who made his debut in Qatar with a disappointing 8th place, is already third in the World Cup standings with 27 points, three behind leader Bastianini and only one behind South African Brad Binder (KTM).
