The Spanish rider Marc Márquez was transferred to the hospital this Sunday after a sharp fall during the warm-up session of the Indonesian MotoGP Grand Prix and his participation in the race seems difficult, his Repsol Honda team said.
“After his fall, Marc Márquez was transported to Mataram hospital for additional exams,” the team of the six-time MotoGP champion, who became aware of the accident, said on Twitter.
Márquez, 29, was blown into the air at turn 7 of the Mandalika circuit, after losing control of the back of his bike at the end of the warm-up of the second grand prix of the season.
The Spaniard was able to get up on his own, but he was stunned after this fall to 180 km/h.
He was evacuated to a hospital on the island of Lombok, where the circuit is located, for additional examinations, following the health protocol.
It is the fourth fall for Marquez in Indonesia, after one on Friday in free practice and two on Saturday in the qualifying session, in which he was relegated to 14th place on the grid.
Its presence on the starting line, scheduled for 3:00 p.m. local (07:00 GMT), seems compromised.
Six times world champion in the premier category between 2013 and 2019, Marquez broke his right arm at the first Grand Prix of 2020 and missed that entire season.
He progressively returned to the circuits, but at the end of 2021 a new fall in a motocross training prevented him from playing the last two races of the year due to a problem of diplopia (doubling of vision).
